Selangor FC recorded a 4-0 victory over Penang FC in the Matchday 24 Super League 2025/26 fixture at Stadium MBPJ yesterday.
The Red Giants opened the scoring as early as the 11th minute through Chrigor Moraes, following a well-delivered pass from Hugo Boumous, before doubling the lead in the 15th minute after converting a low pass from Faisal Halim. Selangor continued to apply pressure and extended their advantage with a precise header from Harith Haiqal in the 21st minute, heading into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Selangor maintained control of the match with discipline and high intensity. The team’s dominance was further reflected when Alvin Fortes added a fourth goal in the 62nd minute with a direct free-kick, sealing a convincing victory in front of 4,508 Red Giants supporters.
Head Coach Kim Pan-gon praised the team’s first-half performance but stressed the need to maintain quality throughout the full 90 minutes.
“Firstly, tonight’s match was very important as we continue to push until the end of the season. I appreciate the players for their first-half performance. We had a strong start, showed good concentration, and executed our plans well. The opening goal from a set piece was excellent, and the second goal by Hugo Boumous was also very well taken,” he said.
“However, we could have done better in the second half. After going 4-0 up, we lost some focus and made too many technical mistakes, which is something we must improve. As Selangor FC, we need to maintain our quality throughout the match. I would also like to credit the coaching staff for their preparation, especially in set pieces, and the players for their discipline in executing the plan. This is part of building our identity and DNA as a team. We must remain organised, focused, and continue delivering performances that make our supporters proud,” he added.
Next week, Selangor FC will host Nam Dinh FC in the first leg of the ACC Shopee Cup 2025/26 semi-final at Stadium MBPJ, Kelana Jaya on Wednesday, 6 May at 9:00pm. Supporters are encouraged to come and show your support! Get your tickets now.
The management of Selangor FC is pleased with the team’s continued positive momentum and remains committed to achieving the best possible results in the Super League 2025/26 campaign.
